Evan Dubchansky joined the Homeless Advocacy Project in 2020 as our first Social Worker. Supported by the van Ameringen Foundation, he collaborates with the HAP team to advocate for clients in the community and to ensure they receive thorough and holistic support during and beyond their case proceedings.
Evan graduated from Dickinson College and worked as a crisis counselor for a Housing First agency before completing his Masters in Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice. He most recently worked in criminal defense where he provided early interventions for individuals who had just been arrested in order to reduce pre-trial detention, incarceration, and recidivism. His innovation and outcomes led to him being awarded the 2019 National Legal Aid and Defender Association’s Melissa Kupferberg Scholarship Award. Evan thrives on balance between direct practice and systems advocacy, and when not engaged at work, he spends his time making bread and endlessly enjoying the outdoors.
