Melissa Stafford, MSW, LSW
Melissa Stafford joined the Homeless Advocacy Project in 2020 as a paralegal to work on the SOAR Project (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery) in 2020.
Beginning in August 2022, Melissa is working at HAP as its social worker, performing client intake, assisting walk-in clients, helping clients with post-disability benefit and effectuation issues, tracking SOAR outcomes, and working on child SOAR cases.
Melissa graduated from Temple University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and her Master’s Degree in Social Work. She has spent the last five years working with individuals affected by trauma, specifically women, refugees, and immigrants. Before joining HAP, Melissa volunteered as a crisis counselor for victims of sexual violence at WOAR in Philadelphia, worked as an intake counselor at Laurel House, a domestic violence shelter, and co-founded a community group to address community trauma and accountability practices.
When she isn’t working, Melissa loves gardening and DIY projects.
