Congratulations to Comcast and Dechert for Receiving the Philadelphia Foundation’s Pro Bono Award!
HAP congratulates Comcast and Dechert for each receiving the Pro Bono Award of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation. HAP is fortunate to have the participation of both award recipients as pro bono partners.
Comcast has hosted several of HAP’s all-hands birth certificate clinics. Birth certificates are often the first step to accessing services, benefits, and critical state identification. Comcast is also a strong supporter of HAP’s Annual Benefit, celebrating 30 years.
Dechert provided HAP with many hours of legal research during the pandemic. They also successfully prosecuted a federal civil rights lawsuit against New York City, HAP et al. v. NYC, compelling the City to make it easier for homeless individuals to obtain their birth certificates and thus obtain identification. Lastly, Dechert adopted a legal clinic at St. John’s Hospice and helps provide free legal services to Philadelphians experiencing homelessness.
